Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia has signed a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) encouraging city and municipalities in the province to transition to digital payment in disbursement and collection.
Acting in the urgent request of the governor, the SP presided by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia unanimously passed the resolution. The legislative piece is in accordance with RA 8792 or the “Electronics Commerce Act of 2000” directing all government entities to provide method in payment of fees and other obligations to government.
It is also in sync with RA 11032 or the “Ease of Filing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018” aiming to establish effective practices and expedite transactions in the government, said the governor. It will be noted that Covid 19 pandemic altered established norms of human interaction, business and work practices and highlighted the convenience and efficiency of digital payment.
Meanwhile, Executive Order 170 directs all departments, agencies, and SUCs, and GOCCs to adopt to digital payment for disbursements and collection.
